Affirmative Action: Its Effect on Beneficiaries Psychosocial Wellbeing

Affirmative action has been and will remain one of the most controversial issues in the public discourse, out of the broad set of question that are dealt with under this title, this paper aimed to investigate the impact of affirmative action on the psychosocial well-being of female students. Cross-sectional study design has been employed and data's were collected from 315 samples selected through stratified sampling technique by instruments like questionnaire and FGD employed to collect information's in order to answer all research questions. Data obtained from questionnaire was analysed through descriptive methods, Pearson's correlation coefficient, linear regression and independent t-test. The data obtained FGD were also analysed using themes and frequency. The results of the study revealed that affirmative action programs in the school has been endorsed on the average extent; benefitting from affirmative action has positive correlation with low self-esteem and with stigmatizing of beneficiaries.
