Aerospace Science and Agricultural Development

Aerospace science and technology are beginning to provide new tools and techniques with which the agronomist, the ecologist, the geologist, the meteorologist, and other scientists can rapidly observe and inventory earth resources. A rapidly expanding array of instruments and equipment is becoming available for use in studying earth surface phenomena from aerospace platforms. Since the agronomist plays such an important role in the management, conservation, and use of earth resources, it was appropriate for the American Society of Agronomy to sponsor a special symposium on the application of aerospace science to the problems of agricultural development.
