Aeration techniques for lake eutrophication control

The study presented in this work is the proposal of solutions to fight against the phenomenon of eutrophication of lakes and water reservoirs, and this by the introduction of the techniques of aeration by destratification and hypolimnetic aeration along the depth of the lake. For this purpose, we have collected a database from the department of surface waters-research and management of the Federal Institute for Environmental Science and Technology (EAWAG); then we have concretized this work by analyzed and interpreted curves, the diagrams show the effect of aeration and/or oxygenation on the evolution of the physical and chemical parameters of the water along the depth of the studied lake. The comparison of total phosphorus and total nitrogen between aeration by destratification and hypolimnetic aeration, shows the decrease of these two parameters along the depth of the lake, which leads to the decrease of eutrophication of the water. Therefore, hypolimnetic aeration has more advantages than destratification aeration, because it preserves the thermal stratification of the water better.
