Bought used copy...

Although the book was used it was in great condition. The product description accurately detailed the minor flaws of the workbook.

School Related Purchase

I bought this version of the book because my instructor encouraged us to buy an older edition to save money. This edition is actually more compatible with the SPSS software that we are working with. Some students who have the new book are unable to perform some of the tasks the new book calls for in the exercises. This could be due to the software not being updated or there being a few dodgey places in the new book. At any rate, the content is about the same and I've had more success with the exercises in the older edition than the students with the newer one.

A very good book about research

This book give to you a SPSS student copy, but it works during a time, after this it expires. It's a excellent book to graduated and post graduated students.

SPSS Review

Good book. Nice that it comes with SPSS Student Version software CD. (I didn't notice that for at least a month--it's in the back of the book.) The authors try to write in a cutesy, friendly way. Kinda fun sometimes. There are some typos in the book that caused me grief--in particular in the assignments at the end of chapters (that's how my professor assigned homework from the book). Some of the things in the book I thought could've been explained better. Overall, though, it's a good book. If you're a Mac user, by the way, and you have an Intel Mac, you can run this program on your Mac using Parallel (which I got for $79). OR, if you have another Mac (or even the Intel one) you can use Apple's beta version of BootCamp. Parallel just allows you to run Windows and Mac OS X at the same time.

This is an AWESOME book; it is friendly, easy to understand and better than any stats book i have read (i've read many!). For those who are not into the math but conceptual understanding of statistics and mystified with SPSS, this IS THE BOOK FOR YOU. It saved me in a big way and helped me understand stats like never before. Thanks Dr. Babbie - may you write a similar book for multivariate stats and spss (my next challenge!).
