This first book in the Chuck Chuck Chicky and Chums Travel and Adventure Series is about new adventures and finding friendship on the island of Aruba in the Caribbean. This book kicks off the series about friends traveling to distant places and experiencing each place's uniqueness, while enjoying some humorous antics. In this rhyming picture book, four unlikely animal characters come together and form friendships that will ultimately take them to various places in the world as they seek new experiences. This story begins with a little chick named Chicky Cheruba who sails to Aruba in his tuba. He likes to sing and play the tuba, and is excited about his upcoming adventures in the waves. On the island, where he is enjoying coconuts and other island treats, he meets the Ring-a-Right who is hiding in his tuba and making it hard for Cheruba to blow. Ring-a-Right is a cute fantasy character with a long neck and tail, webbed wings, and a twist of hair on top of his head. He is very curious and loves to get into harmless antics. Then along comes Cheruba's cousin Chuck Chuck Chicky who flies a small plane to Aruba and then rides a scooter all over the island looking for Cheruba and seeking adventures of his own. When Chuck Chuck finds Chicky Cheruba, he is being followed out of some trees by Bear, who is big and fuzzy, and very sweet. Bear quickly gets into mischief by blowing Cheruba's tuba so loud that Cheruba's ears hurt. Ring-a-Right saves the day by jumping into the tuba and stopping the racket which makes Cheruba laugh. The story ends with a festive party among the islanders. Cheruba plays his tuba and the other chums play local instruments and make wonderful music. That is, all except Bear who must to sit and listen quietly because of his screeching attempts at playing the tuba. Then as the islanders wave good-bye, the chums wave too from their tuba as Bear kicks to move them away from shore. The four friends are heading to a new destination, France.
