Advanced Clinical Skills is a practical, concise handbook of advanced physical diagnosis techniques and management of common clinical problems. A unique feature of the handbook is its organisation: chapters are organized by specific sites and by signs and symptoms. This organization allows a clinician to take a patient complaint and, using a physical exam technique, establish a set of most likely diagnoses.
The book has a very clear format. It goes through the physical examination step by step (with lots of pictures) letting you know what the normal findings should be, and then gives you a differential for the abnormal. Gives senstivity and specificity of some tests and also gives a paragraph on every disease you could find with the appropriate work-up and treatment. Also light and portable. A great buy.

This is an amazing book! As a fourth year medical student I felt my physical exam skills could use some help before I began internship, so I bought this book. It is well-written with good examples and a very easy to follow format. It was chock full of good diagnostic advice and useful information. I really feel this is a must have for any medical student, resident or medical provider. I found it much more useful than Bates (my school's standard text)and definately easier to use!
