I've learned so much from this book!!

An EXCELLENT read! - I highly recommend this after you learn a little about HTML. I was very committed to reading the entire book and went fullsail with building multiple websites since its completion.

Learn GL, not HTML

I want to address an issue that I have heard from many who have used this book. THIS IS NOT A GUIDE TO WEB DESIGN AND HTML! This book assumes that you understand the fundamentals of HTML and basic web design. This book teaches you how to use the features in GoLive, which are just easy buttons for basic HTML and CSS coding. If you want to learn how to make web pages, you will need to also buy a book on HTML, and probably CSS. Once you know these fundamentals, GoLive is a GREAT tool to use to make them all come together. This book explains nearly every tool in GoLive and briefly explains their partner HTML coding. This book teaches you all the neat features that GoLive has that will easily create complicated HTML codes. Buying this book and expecting it to make you a master web designer would be like reading the instructions to bicycle and expecting to win the Tour de France.

Essential tool to get started with GoLive

One thing GoLive is not and that is intuitive. This book starts you off with a hands on approach and after a time it starts to make sense. I used it methodically and did not find any mistakes mentioned in the other reviews - it helps to use one's head and guess where one overlooked, or mis-understood an instruction as the program is very fiddly. Highly recommended.

REVISED EDITION update!!

I have never used the original version of this book/CD, but I purchased the Revised Edition (printed in late August 2004) and everything has been perfectly clear so far. It appears that many changes were made between printings, because the consistency between the book and the included CD has so far been faultless, typo-free, and error-free. I'm through 5 of 13 lessons, and every step of every lesson so far has occurred exactly as indicated in the text, and all files on the CD have been found in exactly where the book says they should be. Looks like Adobe read all of the bad press here and did something about it by giving us this revised edition in which all the errata seems to have been corrected (so far). I have prior experience with HTML design and with computer programming, but neither before in an Adobe environment. I find the text to be VERY easy-to-follow, and I am impressed enough with how it has helped me that I have ordered Photoshop CS CIB and Illustrator CS CIB. I'm no Go-Live whiz-kid yet, but the book has made me completely functional within just a couple of days. I definitely recommend it. Beware if you buy this book- make CERTAIN that you buy/receive the "Revised Edition", or you may encounter the problems all these other reviewers have encountered.

Thanks Adobe! Way to Go - GoLive!

I am an average computer person with little html knowledge and minor web-building experience. I tried my hand at the more well known Dreamweaver program and was confused and dissappointed. I have found the GoLive program instantly approachable and its process easy to understand. I was very happy with Photoshop Classroom in a book as I am with Adobe GoLive CS Classroom in a book. The points discussed by other reviewers makes me wonder if they used the book to learn as I did or are more technical and picking out minor points I did not see. I had NO problems with these lessons - and they flowed nicely from one to the other. My first websites on my own are awesome. As I continue to learn I am blown away by the ease and fun of this program and am thankful for this teaching book. If I can do this well - anyone can too. Try it, You will Like it.
