Main man Lance Cadwaller is on a mission to achieve total market domination within or without the confines of both legality and reasonable expectation.
Aided and abetted by his glamorous, posh PA Miranda Pyne and silent partner Leslie Croup , furiously joining dots and power-thinking, Lance plots and schemes his way to the hubristic brink, confidence unimpaired.
Encouraged and hampered in turn by a large cast of colourful eccentrics, Lance's overweening ambition continually blinds him to the obvious; in reaching for the stars, he foolishly tempts fate by refusing a parachute.
The moral? Be careful what you wish for.
But, unlike Lance, you the reader - forewarned and forearmed - get to enjoy the fabled 'last laugh'.
