Additive particularism is both a defense and a modification of moral particularism. Particularism rejects the relevance of moral principles based on how moral reasons function, i.e., holistically and non-additively. While additive particularism defends holism, it denies non-additivity, resulting in a particularism that enables moral character by combining it with a theory of precedent.
