This is a true story of a mother's distress (myself) and my addicted son Shane. It focuses on the justice system and how I believed it failed him because addiction is a disease and addicts need to have treatment. I started writing this book in 2014 while my son was incarcerated, the crimes Shane committed. The cruel treatment from the prisons. Addiction can and will cause criminal activity. Shane was a funny kid who was great at sports. Shane had one sibling, Rachael. Rachael was a great sister to her baby brother Shane but I never knew what was on the road ahead for him. My daughter, Rachael, was seven years older. Though they had two different dads, both Rachael and Shane went in different directions. I know that many families have endured the same pain I have gone through. Used syringes found on the ground.
