Ad Undas centers around a dystopian society where due to overpopulation, a world was created in which each country is limited to two million people, and every individual is only afforded thirty-six years to live. Every person is given a number until they are replaced by a newborn that then takes their number once they die. The story follows central character James Carter as he struggles to function and live under this new system.
