In hoc opere, auctor defensionem christianorum contra gentiles vel paganos suscipit, eorum accusationes refellens et eorum superstitiones reprehendens.

Primus liber ad defensionem vitae et morum christianorum spectat, ubi Tertullianus iniustitiam persecutionum et falsitatem criminum, quae christianis tunc temporis obiciebantur, strenue demonstrat. Secundus autem liber ad naturam deorum gentilium convertitur, ubi auctor philosophiam et mythologiam paganorum acriter examinat, erroresque et vana eorum dogmata patefacit. Hic liber est fons primarius ad intellegendam controversiam inter religionem Romanam et fidem novam nascentem.

Tertullianus, ut pater latinitatis ecclesiasticae, in "Ad Nationes Libri Duo" vim eloquentiae et rigorem logicum adhibet, quae fundamenta theologiae occidentalis posuerunt. Hoc opus non solum historicis et theologis, sed etiam omnibus qui litteris latinis et historiae antiquae student, summam utilitatem praebet, illustrans discrimen culturale et spiritale inter mundum classicum et christianum.
