The challenges we face can be difficult even to think about. Climate change, the depletion of oil, economic upheaval, and mass extinction together create a planetary emergency of overwhelming proportions. Active Hope shows us how to strengthen our capacity to face this crisis so that we can respond with unexpected resilience and creative power. Drawing on decades of teaching an empowerment approach known as the Work That Reconnects, the authors guide us through a transformational process informed by mythic journeys, modern psychology, spirituality, and holistic science. This process equips us with tools to face the mess we're in and play our role in the collective transition, or Great Turning, to a life-sustaining society.
Active Hope gives me the resilience to face our global and environmental challenges

Active Hope is based on Joanna Macy's "Work That Reconnects." Besides opening my eyes to the interconnectedness of the multiple crises our world faces, this book provides useful practices and tools for dealing with them on both personal and societal levels. The authors borrow from modern psychology, science, spirituality and mythic journeys to lay a framework for facing the mess we are in by participating in the "Great Turning" which will lead us to a life-sustaining global society. If you have a chance, I highly recommend you follow up reading the book by taking one or more of her classes. I now have hope rather than despair. I cannot recommend this book enough!
