This book is what Oprah's Book Club is made of. Real people dealing with real life events. Martha Jon's pulls you in and you are riveted. This story and these characters became a part of me. Exceptional story telling! Hopefully this won't be Jons' last work.

This is a gripping story of how a poverty stricken family in Eastern Kentucky dealt with their mother's illness and triumphed through the generations to erase the poverty and sadness that plagued them. This is a very inspirational story. It was hard to put it down. Definitely a must read! I hope to see more work from Martha Jons' soon!
