In 1985 Paul Young traveled in a truck starting in London, England and ending in Johannesburg, South Africa 18 weeks and 15,000 road miles later. He journeyed with 20 strangers from South America, Australia, Europe, Canada and Great Britain. They crossed the Sahara desert. where the temperature climbed as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit, and where Paul Young suffered a broken big toe. Every day was a new adventure spent hunting with pygmies, hiking up the Virunga Mountains to see silverback gorillas, and camping among the wild animals in East Africa. Along the way the strangers became friends and Paul Young learned about life in the third world countries of this amazing continent as well as some things about himself.
