A true story of hope

This is a beautiful, quality book about a woman who doesn't give up! Patty tells of her experiences growing up as a missionary's daughter in Africa, her faith in facing major obstacles in life, and how God has helped her move mountains. Most of the book is dedicated to relating the trials and miracles she and her husband have experienced in adopting children who might otherwise not have had families. She shares some important bonding techniques and ideas that will definitely help other adoptive parents of special needs infants. As a prospective adoptive parent, this book filled my heart with "acres" of hope! I recommend this book to everyone I love.

Patty! What a wonderful expression of God's love!

The last time I saw Patty was in l969 in Stockholm, Sweden. Her family and ours had lived on the same mission station in the Congo and were on our way back to the States. I have had no contact with Patty since then. But, even more than 30 years ago, I saw the same Patty that is so beautifully expressed in Acres of Hope. Even at such a young age, she was caring and compassionate - and such a champion for what was right and just. This is a book well worth the read - and so well written. Every parent should read it! Thanks, Patty! You do your Mother proud - and your Lord!

Acres and acres of love - abounding!

What an incredibly inspiring book! This is an EXCELLENT book and God Bless the entire Anglin family. I loved reading about each of their 8 adopted special needs children and the love that was poured forth which has made a HUGE difference in each and everyone of these children's lives. I have to ask myself what would have become of these precious children if it were not for the Anglin's? This book PROVES that love conquers all and that love is indeed the answer. This book is especially poignant to me in that, in my own personal upheavls and challenges, Patty has taught me about having faith and trust in God. Since God is in charge and knows the outcome, one just has to have faith. I think that this book "fell" into my hands for a reason in that it has provided me the answers on how to cope with my personal challenges - it has given me hope.I am inspired by the challenges that the Anglin's faced at various times in their lives, yet they perservered, they never gave up hope and the love that they all shared TOGETHER pulled them through. I laughed, I cheered and I cried and I could not put this book down. This couple, this family is love in action - pure and simple. This is a book of fortitude and love and hope. This book will touch your heart in many ways. Again I say, God Bless.

Such an inspiration!

Excellent book! I couldn't put it down - very easy reading. Every chapter is the story of one of Patty's miracle children. Each story was truly captivating and heart-warming. Patty's life seems to be a collection of small miracles, and I think it's extraordinary what her and her family have faced and the obstacles her children have miraculously overcome! This book was truly inspirational - I HIGHLY RECCOMEND IT TO EVERYONE!

Acres of Hope for transracial and special needs adoption

This book was a fabulous resource for information concerning transracial adoption and the need for both placement for minority and special-needs children. I was inspired by the Anglins' overwhelming compassion and care for so many challenging children, despite there lack of substantial financial income. The idea of adopting/fostering such children became much more of a reality for me after reading this book. Despite obstacles placed before them by certain biased social workers and historical mores, they were able to realize there dream of helping children whom no one else wanted and, in the process, pioneered new techniques for assisting their unprecedented physical, social and emotional development, something most of us can only hope to do one day.
