This book of sea stories is a gripping work written in the tense spare style of Jack London. Here on the high seas-- from the Chesapeake to the Caribbean are men at women on personal quests for freedom and re-creation. Jack Greer knows the sailing life from stem to stern. The people in his stories are often in danger or under stress and they show the heroic side of the American character that is often vacant in the "new" American fiction. I would rate this as one of the best books of short stories that I have read in years. Jack Wennersten, Washington, DC

With a long history of exotic culture, strange mysteries, brutal history, it's no mystery why the Caribbean is the perfect place for adventure to grow. "Abraham's Bay & Other Stories" is a collection of short stories from Jack Greer set in the south Atlantic as the characters he creates choose the sea in order to find peace in their lives. Giving them unique and entertaining stories, Greer makes a fine collection of short fiction, making "Abraham's Bay & Other Stories" a top pick for those seeking fiction with an oceanic focus.
Caribbean Reflections and Adventures

This is a totally enjoyable thought-provoking book of 12 short stories that provide a compelling escape to remote and exotic places in and around the Caribbean Sea where we encounter unanticipated adventures and perspectives on life. Although the stories provide plenty of action and reflections on unruly seas, they also elicit a range of emotions where characters and readers alike must deal with their fears and anxieties to understand their inner mettle and human connections as well as their ultimate sense of self-worth. The stories are well structured, and the writing has depth and literary sophistication. I highly recommend this book for both avid sailors and terrestrially-bound readers looking for a provocative and entertaining read.

"Abraham's Bay" is a wonderful set of 11 short stories that each take you on an emotional journey. Every page kept my interest. I became personally involved with the kaleidoscope of characters wanting to know more about each one. Each story seemed to touch on one of the lessons we must learn in life; loss of dreams, infatuation, mother's love, guilt, fear, vulnerability, aging, stages of relationships, unconditional love, etc. I wish each was a book in itself.
