I love all of Jim Weiss' work. My ten year old daughter listens to this Cd constantly and many of her friends enjoy it also. Jim Weiss does an amazing job of telling the story of Abraham Lincoln's biography from childhood to death conveyed with his usual calm, soft voice, different character voices and clarity that enables the listener to transport herself back to the early 1800's. We usually listen to this Cd in the car and the other day I watched as one of my daughters friends, lost in the story, tilted his head back, looking up at the ceiling, as Jim Weiss told how upon their first meeting Mary Todd, (soon to become Mary Todd Lincoln), had to look up, up, up at the tall Abraham. Warning: This is not the kind of Cd that you will buy, sit down in one sitting and learn everything about Abraham Lincoln's life. It is very long with lots of personal and political detail. There are names of people, political parties, events, dates, (including pre-presidency, presidency and Civil War) and lots of descriptive detail. It's the kind of Cd to listen to over and over, not even an adult could take it all in on the first sitting. Buy it if you want a treasure that your family will enjoy for years!
