An award-winning first glimpse into the diverse natural world of mammals. This addition to the acclaimed About... series explains to children in simple, easy-to-understand language what mammals are, what they eat, and where they live. Beautifully detailed, realistic paintings by wildlife illustrator John Sill introduce readers to the huge variety of mammals, from the tiny white-footed deermouse to the large American bison. An afterword provides more details about the animals featured in the book. Parents and pre-school and primary-grade teachers will find this an attractive choice for introducing kids to mammals.
Great introduction to science and nature for my young children (5, 3, 2) who will be homeschooled. Very simple and understandable facts. Pictures are extremely realistic which I prefer to many other children's books which show cartoon like drawings of animals that don't give my children an accurate perception of the animals they are learning about. I bought a few books in this series at once. I plan to buy the entire series.
Excellent Book!!!!

This whole series is great, especially if you live in U.S. Features common mammals they are likely to see (muskrat, squirrel, raccoon, etc.). Great pictures, little text -- perfect for very young children.
My 2 y.o. son likes this book a lot.

My son really enjoys all of the books in this series. I like that the illustrations are realistic and that species names are included. And as he gets older he really enjoys the additional information that's included in the back of the book!
