In order to have grace, a person must abstain in everything: in movements, in word, in looking, in thoughts, in food. And all abstinence is helped by a teaching in the word of God. It is said: Man will not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matt. 4, 4).Observe the grace of God; it is easy to live with it; everything is done well according to God, and everything is sweet and joyful, the soul is calm in God and walks, as it were, in some beautiful garden in which the Lord and the Mother of God live. Without grace, man is a sinful earth, and with the grace of God man is intellectually similar to an angel. Angels serve God intellectually and love Him, just as man does, like an Angel intellectually.When grace is with us, then we are strong in spirit, but when we lose it, then we see our weakness; we see that without God we cannot even think of the good.
