Both Literary and Highly Entertaining

This anthology of finely crafted stories runs the gamut of human emotion, from horror and suspense to intelligent and engaging hilarity. It has been a long time since I have read an anthology of fiction which so successfully blends literary excellence with first rate entertainment. Please don't take my word for it---just buy the book! Highly recommended.

Stylistically diverse, thematically unified

Odd as the combination may seem, stories about a girl who speaks flowers, a boy who finds happiness by becoming a dog, and a woman who replays ripples in time sit easily side by side. The writers' styles are as different as their subject matter, but underneath them all is a healthy dose of questioning, of wondering about this world and how it "really" is put together. I stopped after each story to think about the "magic" that each writer explored. The concepts are mental adventures in themselves, and that is one of the best things you can ask from fiction: that it stirs your imagination beyond what is on the page.
