If we're to become like Christ, I believe we need to study Christ. We need to think outside the box about Jesus. I grew up with a tendency to see Jesus as God, and that's good. He is God. But He was also a man. The Chalcedonian Creed says He is "truly God and truly man." Wrapping my brain around that fact was (and still is) a bit harder. It seems so disrespectful to think of Jesus' humanity. He got hungry. He got tired. He got frustrated and angry. His divinity didn't take away one iota of those feelings. That's why His sacrifice for my salvation succeeded. He completely identified with me.This devotional was born out of my personal quiet times in the Gospels. As I journaled about what I'd read each day, I noticed a pattern emerging. Jesus was showing me how to become like Him.~an excerpt from Abiding: 30 Steps Closer
