The AABL(tm) (Admissions Assessment for Beginning Learners(tm)) is an iPad-based assessment that tests a child's reasoning and achievement abilities. Children must be at least 4-years-old to take the test, which will take 30 to 40 minutes for Kindergarten and Grade 1 applicants and a bit longer for younger students.AABL(tm) will serve as the new evaluation tool that New York City private elementary programs will use during the admissions process. Schools that will be using the AABL(tm) include Avenues, Collegiate, Horace Mann, Lyc?e Francais and Riverdale (and more schools could request this and/or accept results as an additional supplement). The AABL(tm) will be optional at Brooklyn Friends and Spence will accept all test scores including the AABL(tm). For more information on the AABL(tm), please consult our blog post here. Our AABL(tm) Test Preparation Workbook can also be used to prepare for the Kindergarten Readiness Task (KRT) and other custom school assessments that private elementary schools use as part of the admissions process.
