As the station cook on Awakino and the mother of three young daughters, Jaz Mathisen knows how sharing a warm meal at the kitchen table or opening a tin of delicious treats makes all the difference to our busy days, whether you're feeding a busy family or a hungry team of shepherds.
Deeply passionate about running a sustainable farming business, the 20,000 acre Awakino station is home to fine wool sheep, cattle and deer. Jaz and her partner Dan Devine, a second generation Awakino farmer, share their belief that while they are the current managers of the historic Kurow homestead, they're only the custodians for the next generation.
