The aim of this study is to identify and characterize cross-linguistic idiomatic correspondences (primarily based on Russian and English) and to apply them in translation practice. The subject of the study is Russian and English idioms that are in a relationship of correspondence. The subject of the study is Russian-English phraseological equivalents, analogues, and non-equivalent phraseological units. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that it is among the first of its kind in the field of Russian-English comparative linguistics. The conclusions presented in this publication will be useful for the theory of comparative linguistics, language teaching, and cultural studies; they are applicable in the practice of interlingual translation, in the compilation of translation dictionaries, and in the teaching of English as a foreign language.
