The tale follows a young boy belonging to a royal family and his elder sister who try to adjust in a rapidly changing India under British occupation. An English acquaintance visits their palace on a fateful day along with his granddaughter. The prince and the enigmatic guest have a summer of passion together as they fell hard for each other. Things take a turn for the worse when he discovers her betrothal to an officer of the English cavalry in the French disputed Pondicherry region of India. In a parallel tale, the story navigates its way through the life of the elder sibling who has had the misfortune of walking the path that her younger sibling has just begun to tread. In times as tumultuous and uncertain as one of radical revolutions in India in 1920s, the aristocrats' English acquaintances becomes public knowledge and much to their dismay.

The prince follows the guest to England after a hard seven years of trying to get her out of his memories leaving behind a proxy to oversee the reign of the three towns under his administration. He discovers a different part of life and sees a new face of love and betrayal in the process. Whatever follows, forms the crux of the story.
