A Wonderful Read

This book is one of the best, funniest, and most entertaining books I have ever read. Both my husband and I enjoyed it so much. The day I bought it, I spent the rest of the day reading it....and just couldn't put it down until I finished it. Reading this book causes fits of giggling, snickering, chuckling, and laughing right out loud from cover to cover. Both Genevieve and her human, Dennis Fried, are wonderful writers who know how to entertain their readers. Anyone who ever was a child will truly enjoy this book, regardless of their age or when or where they grew up. It is filled with insight and humor and brings back a lot of memories of "the good old days" when we were younger. Genevieve has counseled her human well...and should encourage him to write more books.

Laugh Out Loud!

How many books make you laugh out loud? If you want to take a look back at growing up in the 50's and 60's and reflect on the antics of your own childhood, then this book is a must! I havn't laughed so hard since reading Dave Barry's Big Trouble. Denny Fried's blend of humour and personal philosophy make for a delightful journey into yesteryear.

A Tongue in the Sink Touches the Soul

It's true that Denny Fried's look back to see what was gaining on him in his youth will make you laugh, as the book cover warns. But be prepared to experience deep nostalgia, even, amazingly, for places you haven't been and cultural corners you haven't explored. Fried draws readers into his childhood while at the same time hurling them back into their own. A terrific read--for boomers and everyone else.

A Terrific Romp Through Nostalgia

Denny Fried's A Tongue In The Sink is a must-read for anyone who grew up in small-town USA, especially if you lived in Catskill, NY as I did. Who can forget the big kids and their torture, first girl friends, the swimming hole, early jobs, elementary and high school, and that first talk with mom or dad about the "birds and the bees." Don't miss this one.

A Must Read Whether No Matter What

I am a professional cartoonist/writer andone of my main job is to read "funny stuff" to help develop ideas. I literally read thousandsof humor-related books and I can assure you thisis the best written-funniest I've come accross. IfI'm in a nursing home one day (which is bound to happen)and a young person comes to visit and asks me if thereis one thing I would do over differently, my answer wouldbe "Read A Tongue In The Sink by Dennis Fried" about30 years earlier (if it had been available). Read thisbook. It's not only fun entertainment, in a way, itsa subtle lesson on how to not take life so serioulsy. I never thought I'd say a humor book coulb be a "lifechanging experience"...this one is. Thanks Dennis. Pleasewerite more. Sincerely, Rick London Londons Times Cartoonswww.londonstimes.us
