My Dad bought this for me in 1974

This book helped me when I tried to make the High school freshman football team back in 1974. Lot's of cool and funny stories about NFL pro players and their positions. I used techniques I read in this book on the field and made an impression on the coaches. Good start for young players and even better stories for every one else. The story of Joe Don Looney is great.

Why Thinking Man's Guide to Pro Football is best of breed

There is just no way this title should ever be out of print. In "Thinking Man's Guide to Pro Football," Paul Zimmerman creates a category: the literate analysis of professional fotball. We have plenty of this stuff in baseball -- from Angell to James, Boswell, and the whole team. But football has always been overlooked as a place for intelligent analysis delivered with wit and graceful prose. What do we have instead?
