A tale of light and dark: The Prophecy

By CMG Smith

Genre: Fantasy (Dark New Adult Romantasy / Magical Academy Epic Fantasy with supernatural factions, prophecy, vampires, wolves, and light-vs-shadow magic)
For eighteen years, Chase and Kira survived the brutal training of the bunks, preparing for the day they would be assigned to their futures. But Assignment Day shatters everything they knew. Chosen by Lux Academy, Chase is thrust into the radiant, cutthroat world of the Light, forced to survive an ancient game of power and hidden secrets. Meanwhile, Kira is dragged back into the black heart of Tenebris to fulfil a royal destiny she never wanted, armed with shadow magic and a dangerous blood oath. Separated by rival regions, they must navigate a lethal web of alliances, ancient sentinels, and the impending Prophecy.
Because no matter how wide the continental divide grows, "all the darkness in the world couldn't keep them apart."

Light and darkness as moral ambiguity: The "light" faction is not inherently good, and Tenebris is not simply evil.
Chosen destiny versus self-determination: Chase and Kira are repeatedly told what they are meant to become but both resist being controlled by prophecy, parents, or institutions.
Bonds, oaths, and chosen family: Blood oaths, magical connections, pack loyalty, and romantic vows recur throughout the story. The strongest relationships are not biological but chosen through sacrifice, trust, and survival.

The Prophecy is the first book in the series "A tale of light and dark".
