In 1991 the world wide web was in its infancy so when Jenny Van Velt's aunt was murdered in her backyard there was no easy way to decipher her aunt's mysterious past. A stack of old diaries written in a language that Jenna could not read, along with a letter was all that Jenna had to go on. Her friend Ing introduce sJenna to Tom Robbins, a former member of the Rhodesian army, who agrees to read the diaries for her. As the story of her aunt's life is revealed by the diaries the threat to Jenna's life becomes increasingly clear. Within weeks of meeting Tom Robbins, he and Jenna are struggling to stay out of the hands of people who want the diaries destroyed and stack of floppy computer disks that Jenna aunt had left for her.
