God's timing is always full of surprises. After looking for jobs in full-time ministry for months, God landed us at the perfect church--and we weren't even planning to visit there! Little did we know, they would ask my husband to work there part-time after thirteen months. Only nine months later, they asked him to be full-time. ( Um, yes please.) Then they asked the other part-time pastor to be full-time, too. The church wasn't sure how it would afford two full-time salaries, but they knew they needed to give it a shot. They decided that either God would provide, or they would spend all of their savings and have a different answer. Oh, and two months later Covid happened. But nothing can thwart the plans of our God. And nothing can stand in the way of his faithfulness. The church went into that year expecting to drain their savings ( and that was before Covid ). But they ended that year with more money in savings than they started with. Let me tell you something, our God provides. He provides every step of the way, and he is always faithful to his people. And that is the whole point of the book of Joshua. God is always faithful to keep his promises. In the beginning of Genesis, God promised to give Abraham the land of Canaan. After hundreds of years, after the Israelites went through slavery and wandering and rebellion, God fulfilled his promise in the book of Joshua. The people cross the Jordan River, step foot into Canaan, and arrive in the land. The Lord gives them victory in conquering the land and they divide it amongst themselves according to tribes. Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass (21:45). What a wonderful truth to study. We will look at Joshua verse by verse over the next seven weeks. There are eight video messages available on YouTube (under Christ Bible Church Peoria), one introduction video plus one video per study week. Each week has a memory verse and is divided into daily readings, which follow the pattern of preparing, reading, applying, and closing. Do it on your own or do it with a group. It's up to you!
