A Southwest New Mexico Hispanic Family: The Parra Family Story

This is the common story of a Hispanic Family in New Mexico. The Parra Family Story describes our Sephardi experience to our participation in the conquest of the New World and our gradual migration to our settlement in New Mexico. Our experience has ranged from long on-going battles and problems with the Apache and Comanche. Our Spanish origins enabled us to be active encomenderos (land grantees) and fortune seekers of or for the Spanish Crown, during the period of colonialism ranging from the long Spanish period, to a brief period of Mexican unstable sovereignty, lasting only about 25 years. We saw and experienced the American invasion and changes caused by the Mexican War. Our integration into a nation of democratic principles has been part of our experience and the family, as many other Hispanics have served their nation in or for the cause of freedom. We have loyalty to but one flag, and that is the the red white and blue, called Old Glory. The family is a very well educated one, with a strong work ethic, which strives for excellence, and would make the ancestors shared with-in, proud. Many photos with short descriptions of the ancestors or kin that could be found, are included. Contained within is a genealogical descendant Family story or the persons names of those who carry the Parra family on, in life.
