The novella was first published as a short story in four parts on allaboutjazz.com with the title Last Song for Valentine and became an unexpected hit. It has now been expanded into a novella in eleven parts and includes a new ending. The novel also comes with its own playlist, a jazz soundtrack to accompany the book.
