A Soft Place to Land

By: Ashby, Rowan

A gentle collection of original poems for anyone learning to heal, love themselves again, and finally come home.

A Soft Place to Land is a full-length collection of original poetry and short prose reflections about grief, self-love, chosen family, and the quiet, ongoing work of coming home to yourself. Written with warmth and honesty, it offers no easy answers - only companionship for the parts of healing that are slow, nonlinear, and deeply human.

Across eight themed sections, the poems move through loss and letting go, learning to stay present with yourself, setting boundaries as an act of love, reconnecting with the body, chosen family and belonging, small everyday joys, finding your authentic voice, and finally, arriving at a softer relationship with who you are. Each section opens with a short prose reflection, so the collection reads as a complete, guided journey rather than a scattering of disconnected verses.

What's inside:

- Eight themed sections of original poetry and prose, from grief and boundaries to quiet joy and self-acceptance

- Short reflective essays woven between poems for extra depth and grounding

- A tone of warmth, hope, and radical gentleness - never clinical, never preachy

- A fully clickable table of contents for easy navigation

- Respectful, inclusive language throughout, written with care for LGBTQ+ readers and anyone on a healing journey

Perfect for anyone navigating grief, rebuilding self-worth, setting boundaries for the first time, or simply craving language for feelings they haven't been able to name. It also makes a meaningful gift: for a friend going through a hard season, a loved one starting therapy, a graduate stepping into independence, or yourself, on the days you need reminding that softness is not weakness.
