duck soup is good food

she's funny. no, really. and the recipes are easy to make and delicious. I'm eating the guacamole as we speak. The only thing I really like to make is a phone call for restaurant reservations or delivery service. the tone makes it less intimidating to try the dishes, and the book is fun to read. i have about eleven high end cookbooks in my kitchen collecting dust. highly recommend.

hilarious cookbook

Karen Duffy's book proves that the joy of cooking should start with the cookbook itself. It reads like a funny novel - not just great recipes, but great ideas - so you have something to make for dinner and something to talk about over dinner. The recipes are easy but unique and fun (l like beer can chicken and cheesecake codependency) and it's filled with practical advice for a novice (me) or a gourmet. I love this cookbook. I couldn't put it down - except when I got really hungry.

deliciously saucy

Fear not...any dinner party will be an entertainment success with the mere showcasing of this book on the coffeetable! Karen Duffy is witty and charming in this punchy, saucy cookbook that is oh so much more than a cookbook! Readers are likely to sit and read this book from cover to cover, feeling as though they are devouring a comic novel--sharing anecdotes, silly quotes, and slob smarts with anyone in earshot. Within the pages of humor, tips and story-telling are wonderful recipes to dazzle and delight all levels of culinary skill--and each recipe is labeled with a monkey donning either a dunce hat, graduation cap, or chef hat as a guide. Relax and entertain with ease. You're going to love reading and using this cookbook.

Slob is Sensational

Just picked up a Slob in the Kitchen and I can't put it down, have already tried many of the recipes including Kiss-me-not Canapés, Shut-your-pie hole Pie, and "Tastes Like Chicken" Stir Fry. Not only were the recipes really easy to follow, but also delicious and Duff's anecdotes and descriptions about food origins are a delight to explore. Truly an entertaining and resourceful cookbook.

Wanna have a few laughs in the kitchen? Get this book by Karen Duffy (my hero)! In the books introduction she says, " This is for people who have better things to do than cook." AMEN! (that's just the start of Duff's off beat sense of humor)My husband was always a huge fan of her, now I am. He bought me this book because she was on the cover and because he thinks I'm a slob in the kitchen. It's actually a cheaters guide to cooking (Perfect for me). Duffy makes it so much fun for the reader/cook, and the recipes (I've only made three so far) are fairly easy. Plus with Duff's recipes, you look like you tried much harder than you did (i.e., gravy scented candles). Great quotes, great tips for cooking in a snap. Duffy is such a wise ass. Her cute stories prefacing almost all of the recipes (about friends and her life) are witty, fun and interesting (things that never come across in cook books). The "Slob Smarts" are the best. Duff's book is also a great gift. P.S.My favorite story is on the tail end of the peanut butter and jelly sushi recipe.
