A Slippery Slope (Antique Shop Mysteries #23) by Elizabeth Penney
The 23rd book in the series of Maggie and the Somerset Harbor City with the historical society girls, her daughter Emily and her beau James, alderman of Somerset Harbor. Maggie always seems to intertwine herself into the most interesting cold cases from years ago and usually finds antiques or memorabilia that ties into the mystery. In the end, Maggie usually solves the case for the Somerset Police before they do! This was going back to the 1960’s and a movie star living in Somerset Harbor, that fell down her stairs and ended up dead, while her 3 year old son played in the living room. Suspicious things happen at a ski resort involving people from the past and another “accident” happens involving the son now an adult. Items disappear, places are ransacked and others are threatened and stalked/frightened with break-ins and what not. At the Snowball Formal Maggie figures it all out with Ruth’s memories from the past coming back to help her.
