A Short History of Meganis: The Truth of Atlantis

Once, long ago, there was an empire. This empire claimed to rule all the Mediterranean, which they called "Our Sea," and all the land outside the Pillars of Heracles, which we would now call the Straights of Gibraltar.

They were wrong.

One island, immediately outside the Straights, resisted their might, and held many surrounding islands as well.

Not only did this empire fail to conquer that island, but were thwarted in the land they called Caledonia, which we call Scotland. There they lost to the Caledonians, who had joined together with the soldiers of the Unconquered Isles. The empire built two walls to keep the Caledonians out of "their" lands, one of which was called Hadrian's Wall.

Never did this empire take Caledonia, and the Unconquered Isles remained unconquered.

It is of these Unconquered Isles that I will tell. Of their history I will tell. Of their people, their food, their land, their religion, I will tell. But always there is more to learn, and more to tell, and I hope their story never comes to an end.
