Nifty Shakespeare Resource

Although the summaries of many of the plays are a bit basic, I found the book useful and the sketches unique, capturing the essense of the many works. The book divides Shakespeare works into four major categories-- Comedies, Tragedies, Histories and Romances. There is a synopsis of each play listed within these sections, as well a few tidbits of information about the background of the play in the margins of the pages. Also, the characters within these plays are illustrated. There is also a little bit of other information about Shakespeare and the Elizabethan era, such as trends, major events, and styles. I agree with the reviewer who said that this book is not to be taken as scholarly. It is geared more as a way to describe the works of Shakespeare in a way that is quite "reader-friendly." Rather than giving in depth analysis, the author seems more concerned with keeping this informative and fun. Still, for its worth, this is neat resource for anyone who is interested in Shakespeare.
