Born and raised near the once-wild Los Angeles River in North Hollywood, California, Jim Lombardi began his adventurous life as an altar boy, budding mechanic, and war-time defender of his celebrity filled neighborhood. Though these early attributes did not prevent his being 'shipped out for not shaping up' to boarding school as a teenager, his proclivity towards everything mechanical soon led him into the new industry of helicopters, and entrenched his lifelong passion of learning how things work and how to fix them. After marrying the 'beautiful girl with the big hat' and the appearance of his first child, came uproarious years spent with colorful characters, famed musicians, and notorious gangsters as an LA restauranteur during the '60s. From 1969, when he embarked on a now 50 year career with the LAPD entailing undercover-vice, patrolling the beat, and life-or-death situations; to moving his family to the high desert to raise children, animals, and a glass or two; to building a house and 40 years of life in Baja, California; and to being involved with legislation in Sacramento to fight the good fight, Jim has faced life's many twists, successes, and challenges head-on, with integrity, aplomb, and an uncompromising work ethic. So sit back, pour yourself a beverage, and go on a ride-along with Jim as he shares his stories, with an enduring Sense of Humor.
