Margaret was walking alone, becoming confused and lost when the weather closed in around her. She had dressed too lightly for this, and soon became soaked and cold.That was how David, walking through the mountains to Colfax, found her, sitting under a tree, and close to losing consciousness in the sudden cold snap that saw snow now coming down. He wasted no time getting a camp set up where she was, lighting a fire, divesting her of her sodden clothing with some trepidation, but making sure that she would not suffer from exposure.
