A Search for Noah's Ark

In September 1990, Dr. Ron Charles was invited to be a part of a search for Noah's Ark expedition. It was the last expedition approved by the Turkish government. This is the record of his expedition experience.

A MIRACLE AT 15,500 FEET
Our Russian helicopter pilot was very advanced in expertise, having been a personal pilot for some of Russia's highest-ranking political figures. However, he was a devout atheist.

Yet on one of the trips around the mountain, when we hovered in front of the object, I noticed that a tear came into his eye and rolled down his cheek. I asked him if something was wrong and if he had a problem. He said, "Yes," then pointing to the object in the ice, he said, "That is my problem. I have been taught my entire life that this was a myth, Mickey Mouse, a fairy tale. But now I see with my own eyes that it is no fairy tale. It is truth. So, I feel like maybe some of the other things in your Bible may be true too." I told him that everything in the Bible was true, especially what was recorded about Jesus.

And there, hovering in front of the object, he let me pray with him, and he accepted Christ as his Savior. He returned to Moscow and started a church in the downtown section. He began with 17 people and now runs about 7,000. The last I heard, he was still going strong, still convinced that the object he saw embedded in the ice was indeed the biblically recorded Ark of Noah. Many may scoff and say that this was not the ark, but what is there at the 15,500-foot level of Mt Ararat was so convincing and the truth of its existence was so strong that it melted the heart of a devout atheist and changed his life.
