WW2 Romance

A Rose for the Resistance by Angela K. Couch is the fifth book in the multi-author Heroines of WWll series. How will Rosalie Barrieau keep her brother safe when he wants to join the French resistance? Will the town of Sainte Mere Eglise ever be free from German occupation? When Rosalie is given the responsibility of caring for a downed British pilot, she must decide how much she is willing to sacrifice for freedom. When faced with so much pain and suffering Rosalie was able to think of others and even risked her life for what she believed in. The story was filled with romance, courage and edge-of-your-seat suspense; but most of all hope! I received this book from Celebrate-Lit for my honest review.

Gripping and unique

I never understood before this book what "beautiful ache" meant. I do now. I'm finding it difficult to put all my thoughts into words, regarding this book. I loved seeing things from a German soldier's point of view; we don't often see that. The decisions with everything, the impossibility of a romance between opposing sides...my heart ached for them, and I didn't envy Franz or Rosalie. I love how the author drew me in. It wasn't difficult to see myself in each scenario, right along with the characters, and I found myself holding my breath so many times to see how things would work out in the various confrontations. At chapter 30-heck even in the next to last chapter, I still wasn't sure how things were going to end up, as there were so many possibilities! I loved the lessons Papa taught Rosalie, and her memories of him. I have both chills and tears by the end of this book. Well done, Angela K Couch. This is a book that will end up on my shelves in hard copy. *I received this ebook from Net Galley to review. All opinions are my own.

5 stars, A unique perspective on WWII A ROSE FOR THE RESISTANCE (Heroines of WWII #5) by Angela K. Couch #arosefortheresistance is a unique perspective on #wwii it's mostly set in France, around Rosalie, her younger brother Marcel, and a German soldier. Marcel is determined to get into the fight against the hostile takeover by the Germans. Rosalie is constantly trying to solve his problems to keep him at home, so he'll be safe. When they are mysteriously saved by a German soldier, they don't know what to think. The man, Franz is supposed to be the enemy, he is wearing the uniform of the enemy, and he hangs out with the enemy, yet all indications point to the fact that he may be an ally. As I read this novel, I was reminded that there are good people and bad people in all walks of life. This is not a completely fictional story, there are details pulled from history, yet it is believable that situations like this could have occurred. The element that the author is determined to share is that we remember the horrors of the German takeover and learn from that and don't let it occur again.
