A Right Royal Face-Off: A Georgian Comedy Featuring Thomas Gainsborough and Another Painter

By Simon Edge

A hilarious Georgian romp through the art world's most famous rivalry. It's 1777, and Thomas Gainsborough, England's second-greatest portrait artist, contends with social climbing and royal commissions. He loathes pandering to grandees, but everything changes when he paints King George III and discovers a taste for royal company. Will he be chosen as court painter over his rival, Sir Joshua Reynolds?

Two centuries later, a damaged painting surfaces on a TV show. Could it be a lost Gainsborough? And why does the sitter have donkey ears? Follow the artistic rivalry, royal intrigue, and class differences in this Georgian comedy.
