Ugh

This book is in horrible condition yet was displayed as very good condition ):

It wasn't the content I didn't like

I love this book. A return to love. It resonated with me. I bought this copy for a friend. It said very good condition. It also showed the red cover which is the newer addition. I got a very old yellow page old version with scribbles and writing in it. Not what I expected. I'll have to order another one. I'll pay the extra on Amazon this time.

Beautiful message!

I read this book when I was in a crossroads in my life and going through extreme change. Ms. Williamson has a way with words and introduced me to to love/God/myself in a way I had never thought possible. Great read and I highly recommend.

Life changing!

This book has changed my life! If you need to change the way you see things. It is one of the best books of all time.

I saw Ms. Williamson speaking live.....without knowing in advance what I was about to see. Had never heard of her before that night..but I have never forgotten the power of her speech. Since then I've read all of her books. Changed my life. She is a powerful speaker and I recommend her to anyone who is new to a course in miracles.

An Excellent Read!

About 4 years ago, I was in a REALLY bad car accident, and have since suffered with chronic pain. Although it has been a difficult road, one of the positive effects is that it somehow led me to start a spiritual journey - a quest to understand life in general, and myself in particular. This is one of the first "spiritual" books I came across that piqued my interest, and I am definately glad I bought it! Marianne's style of writing made it easy for the "beginner" to grasp her insights - and I was definately a beginner to this genre at the time. Overall, this book speaks about the importance of love - and how the ego tends to get in our way of truely feeling and expressing love. Although I have not yet read "A Course in Miracles", Marianne states that her beliefs are deeply connected to it. At the time, although I had learned about the ego in college, I had never of thought of it in the terms she described. She shows through example how the ego, if left un-checked, can lead us to dwell on the negative (and even search for it in instances where it doesn't exist). But the overall message of this book is that only love is REAL - and that we must all learn to love ourselves, as well as others - even those we can't imagine loving. What a beautiful message! I would recommend this book anyone interested in spirituality & /or "A Course in Miracles". Be sure to "bring" an open mind.

A positive message...

In its own way, "A Return to Love" is a seminal piece of writing, more for its message than its poetry. I turn to Marianne Williamson's when I need a little pick-me-up; I have found she is one of the few "religious" voices I can handle these days. This book is based on her interpretation of "A Course in Mircacles," a kind of New Age bible. I have never attempted to read that tome, so this book acts as a kind of cliff notes version for a mainstream audience. Its basic message is the following: when we are born, we are programmed perfectly to focus on love, but as we grow older we are taught a bad philosophy of fear. The key is to reconnect with our essential, loving selves by asking God to erase the fearful thoughts that block our essential selves. This process--letting go of fear and anger-- is a miracle.The logical side of me says that the central supposition of this book is false; in fact, children are born with both love and fear --on a primal level, anger in a baby (crying) is an expression that needs aren't being met, and that anger is an essential part of an infant's survival. In a sense, anger is a form of communication, and is something people are born with.And, yet, this book distills spiritual principles in a language that is more accessible to a general audience than traditional religion. It has the power to reconnect people to a basic type of spirituality that is lacking in a lot of mainstream life. It also contains a lot of advice about relationships that is greatly helpful, and is a fun read. I found that reading it lead me to a greater curiousity about religion and spirituality; it is a gateway.

Great Book

Marianne Williamson takes Course In Miracles concepts and shows how they apply to her personal life. The book is honest and inspiring. I enjoyed the book. I would also highly recommend the book An Encounter With A Prophet for more honesty and inspiration derived from personal spiritual experience.

An incredible book that will change your life!

Where do I even begin with this review? This book has entirely changed my life, my perspective, my attitude, my feelings about myself and others, I could go on and on. This is something that I cannot stop talking about. Anyone who is lost, confused about religion, who feels poorly about themselves or others, depressed, or just doesn't feel like life is much "fun" anymore.....read this book! I can't even tell you what a load it takes off and how wonderful it is to learn that God LOVES you, is not out to punish you, and only has your happiness in mind. I can suddenly walk into a room and feel GREAT about myself knowing that I am a BEAUTIFUL, wonderful child of God. It is the most amazing thing I have ever felt! From this book I have learned what life is about, and what it's not about. After reading it, I bought an additional 10 copies and hand them out to anyone who seems interested. My hope is that everyone can find this love that Maryanne teaches so that they may be as incredibly happy with themselves and their lives as I am today!Thank you so much Maryanne, for changing my life!
