On a hot summer day in the deep South, a nanny goat gives birth to a blind kid. Initially, the helper suggests to the farmer they put the kid out of its misery since it couldn't see to nurse and would be easy prey for a predator. The kid would also be useless as a stud and would not be able to fulfill its purpose on their dairy farm. However, the farmer would not allow him to do that. He had his own special needs child, a daughter who was born deaf and autistic, who would also not be able to take over the role he had planned for her. However, in time, the child and the little goat form a bond with the other, unleashing their creative talents and producing a deeper connection with their world.
