Prior to World War 1, eighteen year old Keagan Cadagan, a poor Irish Catholic girl, secures employment as a housekeeper and nanny in the home of seemingly honest businessman, Ian Flannigan. For reasons unknown to Keagan, the Flannigan family suddenly moves to Springfield, Missouri, taking her with them.
