TV journalist Francis McCall spends Christmas with his adoptive parents in the fading beauty of their Tudor house in Shropshire. They are old and ill, haunted by sins McCall knows nothing about. He begins to suspect they've lied to him about the deaths of his birth parents. Clues are let slip by his father, his mind going as he relives the terror of flying bombers against Nazi targets in WWII. McCall starts digging but in seeking to unearth his own story, discovers a deeper, darker conspiracy - one of murder and revenge, rooted in history's greatest crime...the Holocaust.
