A Penchant for Love tells the story of a family of four living in New York. They are the modern day Indian-Americans, battling conflicting cultures and conflicting opinions. Their stories are of life, hardship, fidelity, tragedy.

Raja is a hopeless romantic. He is a father of two, husband in a loveless marriage, and adulterer in the most passionate relationship he has ever known. He is struggling to find a way to begin living the rest of his life in the midst of a dying love affair. Malika, his wife, spends her days alone in an empty nest. She must face the harsh realities of her marriage and of the corruption of her children, while searching for a confidence she has never known.

Their children, Neela and Sunil, so classically youthful, search for some guidance in a world full of hypocrisy and hidden meaning. Neela feels fruitless pressures of fitting the cookie cutter mold she has never conquered. Sunil reluctantly, hesitantly searches for a wife.
