Dallas Dupree is a one woman man. Great first pick...

For our new book club, we wanted our first book selection to set the right tone. We wanted to read about strong, positive black men that we all knew existed and Mr. Hunter's book did just that. He shows thru Dallas and other characters that good men do exist. The book brings the characters to life so much, that when it ends, you feel the need to know more. You feel as if these are friends in your life and you actually care what happens to them. Not only did the book bring out many points affecting our book club members every day life, but it opened up very deep personal discussions. This is my third novel that I've read written by Mr. Hunter and each one were just as good as the last.

One Woman Man is simply mind blowing

I read this book quickly, and had to force myself to put it down at night so I could get some sleep. This book is awesome, awesome, awesome!!! Travis Hunter has this way of writing that makes you really feel the characters, you will like some, dislike others, and you may find yourself talking to the pages like I was. There are some parts of this book that have touches of humor that will make you laugh out loud. The story centers around three siblings. Dallas the handsome single father getting over the heartbreak of losing the one woman he really loved. He is a teacher, and gives his students the utmost attention, and is revered in his community. When he decides to go back into the dating scene, one night of going out will turn into a life changing drama. His sister Carmen is a physician married to a low life. Problem is she is not aware of the problems her husband is brining to their life, and her world will be turned upside down when some information about her husband comes to light. She will be forced to make one of the most difficult decisions in her life. Priest is the oldest, and he is the bad seed of the family. He is a former cop who is now doing exactly the very thing he was locking other people for. Selling drugs. Even though Dallas and Carmen do not agree with Priest choices, he is the very person they will have to turn to when their life troubles come to light. Kameka is one of the characters that had me talking to the pages. She is a 16 year old who is not getting the love and attention from her mother, and she is making some choices that will have you screaming "Kameka nooooooooo". I wanted to craw through the pages to slap Kameka's mother. She was just sorry, sorry, and more sorry. All she did was sleep. I had no idea why being she never did anything!!! She did not have a job, so why was she so tired? I guess waking up and getting out of bed every morning wore her out. The way Bruce answered the phone "Who dis." No home training, none!!!! "Once I reached into my pocket and stopped cheating Gawd, I went from a Hyndai to a Cadillac." After I read that all I could was laugh and shake my head. I've heard that before!!! "Sassy stood a full seven feet two inches tall. He weighed three hundred and fifty pound and he was proud to be homosexual." I laughed too hard reading this description. The book is so good I actually shed tears during one part. I cried real tears. When an author can make me react to the point I have to reach for tissue, then you have some good reading!!! It's not often I will cry reading a book. I highly recommend this book and his other book Trouble Man. You will not be disappointed!! I thought I enjoyed Carl Weber and Marcus Major, but Travis Hunter is fast becoming my favorite male author.

COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN - LOOKING 4 ANOTHER 1

I just picked up this book on 6/19 from the Post Office and I started reading it at 10PM. Wel, folks it is 5:16AM on Sunday 6/20 I could not put the book down. Travis lets you see the people and you become one with them. It had me laughing and crying. I can't wait for his next book.I have read all of Travis's books and starting with the Hearts of Men I read that also in less than a day. Yes, I have a life and job, but I love to read good books. And safe to say Travis has not let me down yet. Keep up the good work.. THIS IS A MUST READ FOR ALL MALES AND FEMALES...................

Who's Da Man?

Travis Hunter, that's who! This is my first Travis Hunter novel, but it sure as HE@@ won't be my last. I try to read books written by my black brothers, but I found that I can't get into them unless it's something on the non-fiction shelf. Fiction has always been a problem for me. A One Woman Man was given to me by my cousin in Atlanta who is a Hunter fan to her bones. She said, "You gotta read this." It was a gift, so I felt I owed it to her to do so. I read it in three hours - an all time record for me. I'm glad I gave it a chance because I honestly loved it and now, I guess I'm a Hunter fan too. I'm going online today to order his other stuff. Cuz says those are good too and she's made a believer out of me. Travis Hunter has renewed my faith in the black male fiction writer.

LOVED IT!!

What can I say? Travis Hunter has proved his worth once again with his newest release. I'm quick to admit that Mr. Hunter is quite possibly my favorite male fiction author, so I'm never surprised by my enjoyment of his work. But just when I thought I'd read his best writing in "Trouble Man", he introduces me to Dallas Dupree in "A One Woman Man". This story is captivating, well-written and it took me on the ride of my life. And then, just when I thought I had the story all figured out - a bomb was dropped that totally took me by surprise and brought the story full-circle. "A One Woman Man" is most definitely in the top five reads for me this year. This is Travis' best work....at least until next time.Kendra Norman-Bellamy, author of"For Love And Grace" and "A Love So Strong"
