Darlene had a good life until her mother remarried. Frank was mean to both her and her mother. Darlene knew that she had to leave even though Frank threatened to find her and severely punish her if she left. Darlene decided to leave anyway and hoped he'd never find her. She waited till midnight and quietly slipped out the back door and headed for the bus station. She had no idea what she was going to face in this move. Anything was better than being in the same house with Frank.
